Bild på Joe Cohen”Developing a skeptical attitude is not merely a result of learning cognitive pitfalls and logical reasoning. That’s just the beginning. I’ve found that developing a skeptical attitude required the practice of cultivating awareness and letting go. You need to let go of your convictions.”

KBT.

Bild på Vernon Howard”If we choose the easy way, by letting another think for us, we must eventually tread the hard way. If we select the hard way, by insisting upon our own mental integrity, we eventually come to the easy way.” / Vernon Howard Source: https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Vernon_Howard

Bild på Vernon Howard“Take one instance of a depressed, forlorn, heavy-spirited state and track it back to its origin in some thought or comment. Thought watching is absolutely necessary for you to catch thoughts and comments passing through your mind — false elation, gloom, etc. No matter what you’re doing, be a thought-watcher. Watch your thoughts until they dissolve, and watch your life and mind become new and fresh.”/ Vernon Howard Source: https://www.vernonhoward.org/

Bild på Mahatma Gandhi”Carefully watch your thoughts, for they become your words. Manage and watch your words, for they will become your actions. Consider and judge your actions, for they have become your habits. Acknowledge and watch your habits, for they shall become your values. Understand and embrace your values, for they become your destiny.”

the sun, the moon

Bild på Buddha”Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true.”

Bild på Michel Foucault”I believe the postulate, that lies at the core of the traditional history of science, is that truth exists in order to be known; yet the human mind, due to the effect of a number of inhibitions or obstacles, has not managed to see this truth. The mind is made to see the truth and a contingent obstacle is impeding him to see it. According to some historians, this obstacle could be linked to socio-economic conditions, or to different forms of mentality, or to the belief and naivety in old religious myths and moral themes.”
